Poll: Black Hat SEO Not Dead Yet
SEO Roundtable has a short article sharing the results of their poll regarding the state of Black Hat SEO. Their findings…
But overall, 62% of SEOs who took this poll think black hat SEO is not dying.
I thought it was interesting that 13% say that they don’t know. That strikes me as being incredibly honest and much higher than I would have thought. Most people I know who do SEO have a strong opinion on everything.
Google: There Is Value In Broken Link Building
The article basically says that yes there is value but that it needs to be in “context.” So I guess if you are a plumber and want a backlink credit for finding a broken link to a site on Astrophysics it may may not be the right context and therefore not hold value for SEO purposes. While I think providing information to the website owner that they have a broken link is a considerate thing to do it’s always seemed to be a dumb piece of culture that the SEO community holds. It seems to benefit Google and the site owner. Seeing a notation on a site that this site use to have a broken link but doesn’t anymore seems silly to me. Just my two cents.
Google: Comments Better On Your Site Then On Social Networks
These are the things that SEO dorks like me really like to sink our teeth into. Apparently it’s better to have comments on your own site than on social media. Here’s the quote:
Comments are better on-site for engagement signals for SEO than moving to social.
I think that’s a pretty “duh” moment overall. You don’t want people leaving your site to talk about you (or your products). You want them to stay on your site, see your branding, see that you have relevance and discover your goods and services. Not get distracted by a kitten gif. I’m just saying.
Me
It’s funny how some days I read the SEO/Content Marketing/etc stuff and it seems like there is nothing of value and other days these tidbits are just fascinating to me.
Sports – Hockey
Heart Breaking loss to Nashville. 5 to 6
I love watching Hockey. I love, loving the Flyers. Unfortunately I just don’t get to follow as closely as I’d like. Living in Glendale, California I don’t get even the opportunity to see the Flyers play live very often. I just missed them last week but one of the kids had a concert so it was a no brainer why I couldn’t go.
I’ve always been a fan of the Flyers because they seemed to me to be the team to have the most passion for the game. Maybe it’s the Irish in me but they get knocked down and then they get up again, over and over. Not only do they get up but they get their licks in and are willing to fight for what they want. Even if they don’t get it very often. I like that.
When I do write about hockey here, and especially the Flyers it isn’t going to be a game recap so much as me being involved. There are a ton of good sites out there that do a better job than I ever could and so I suggest that you start with the Sons Of Penn for your Flyers news.
The part that I’m happy about is that although they lost, they still scored 5 goals. I’m hoping that Hextall has us on the road to something good.

This is my morning. This is how I start the day.
