I recently got thinking about my mortality when I posted a short message on my friend and client Farzad Kohan’s wall in Facebook. You see someone else had posted a comment on one of posts but instead of using their own account they used the account of a loved one who had passed a way a short while before.

The writer quickly explained who she was and that she still maintained this loved one’s Facebook Account as a tribute. Okay, it sorta makes sense but I can really see how eerie that might be to someone else. So it got me thinking about what do you do with an account that had been active for years and now you want to cease the site/profile but without someone else taking it.

So I found this on Twitter help:

If we are notified that a Twitter user has passed away, we can remove their account or assist family members in saving a backup of their public Tweets.

I thought it was really cool that they would help you back up your loved ones public tweets so you could take them home.
